I am writing this report to explain a stolen photo romance scam warning. A public scam warning post says that photos of a man are being used by fake romance scam profiles under names such as Richard, Mark Donald, and Paul Kennedy. The post states that the person shown in the photos is not the real scammer and that scammers may be using the images under many different names to contact victims. This type of scam is commonly used in romance scams, online dating scams, and social media impersonation scams. Scammers may use attractive or trustworthy looking photos to build emotional trust, begin conversations, and later ask for money, gift cards, travel fees, emergency help, or personal information. The person in the photo should not be treated as the confirmed scammer because the image may have been stolen or reused without permission.
