Reports :
An online dating complaint describes a suspected romance scam involving someone using the name Tatyana Kovaleva, reportedly from Kremenchuk, Ukraine. According to the complainant, the relationship began through UkraineDate.com, an international dating website. The complainant stated that he communicated with the person for an extended period through emails, SMS messages and telephone conversations. During their correspondence, the sender reportedly expressed an interest in meeting and traveling together. The complainant stated that she repeatedly suggested making travel arrangements, leading him to suspect that the relationship might eventually involve requests for money connected to airline tickets, visas or travel services. Although the two communicated regularly, the complainant acknowledged that he never arranged a Skype video call to verify the sender's identity. This became an important concern when he eventually decided to meet her in person. Rather than sending money for travel arrangements, the complainant traveled to Kremenchuk, approximately 300 kilometers south of Kyiv, to meet the person he had been communicating with. According to his account, the woman who appeared at the meeting looked considerably different from the photographs used in the online dating profile. He estimated that she appeared to be approximately 55 to 60 years old rather than around 35, as he had expected from the photographs. The complainant also alleged that the woman arrived accompanied by another woman whom he believed was involved in the arrangement. He stated that the individual he met was overweight and appeared significantly older than the woman depicted in the photographs. These observations contributed to his belief that the dating profile had misrepresented the person's appearance or identity. The complainant suspected that the profile might have been used to encourage international travel arrangements or financial payments, although the original report does not establish that a fraudulent transaction actually occurred. He specifically stated that he had not sent money to the person during their correspondence. The reported incident highlights the risks of identity misrepresentation in online dating, particularly when prolonged communication takes place without independent verification through live video or other reliable methods. However, the information does not establish who operated the dating profile, whether the person encountered was acting fraudulently, or whether the photographs were used with the pictured individual's permission.
