I am submitting this report to explain my experience with an online relationship involving Cathy Benton that I now believe may have been part of a romance scam. The situation caused emotional stress, confusion, loss of trust, and financial harm.

The first request for assistance did not appear suspicious because it was connected to an emotional story and presented as a temporary problem. I believed I was helping someone I cared about and trusted.

Over time, however, the requests continued. Each time one problem appeared close to being resolved, another urgent issue reportedly followed. Promises of repayment or resolution were made, but those promises were not fulfilled.

When I hesitated or asked questions, Cathy allegedly used sadness, affection, urgency, or guilt to influence my decisions. Refusing help began to feel as though I was hurting someone who had become emotionally important to me.

I also began noticing problems with verification. There was no clear real-life meeting, reliable proof of identity, or consistent confirmation that the stories being shared were genuine. Excuses were often given when questions or doubts were raised.

The relationship gradually became stressful rather than comforting. I felt caught between wanting to believe the connection was real and becoming increasingly concerned that I was being manipulated.

Looking back, I now recognize a pattern commonly associated with romance scams. Trust was created through affection and emotional support, urgent problems were introduced later, and financial requests were connected to guilt, sympathy, and promises.

The emotional impact has been serious. I felt betrayed, embarrassed, anxious, and hurt. It was difficult to accept that loving words and promises may have been used mainly to gain financial support.

The financial loss also happened because I believed the relationship was genuine. Any support I provided was given out of trust, concern, and emotional attachment, not because I understood that the situation might be fraudulent.

I now believe the activity connected with Cathy Benton should be documented and reviewed. The repeated emergencies, avoidance of proper verification, emotional pressure, requests for money, and unfulfilled promises created serious concerns about possible deception.

Any available evidence, including messages, screenshots, contact details, payment records, account information, photographs, and other communications, should be considered when reviewing this matter.

This report represents my personal understanding of what happened. I trusted someone who appeared caring and sincere, but I now believe that trust may have been used for emotional and financial exploitation. I hope documenting this experience helps prevent similar harm to others.
