Wearside Jack was the name given to John Samuel Humble from Wearside of England who scammed the police investigation about the Yorkshire ripper for the year 1978 and 1979. During the year1978, Humble was bored and was searching for some fun to feed his brain; while looking at the newspaper ,he got hooked up in the news about the investigation of a brutal serial killer called as 'Yorkshire Ripper' and thought of taking his role for fun.
He sent the police of Yorkshire a scam letter and a hoax audio claiming himself as Jack the Ripper who was killing the women of Yorkshire and that he can't be caught. His letter defrauded police and distracted them from going after the real killer Peter Sutcliffe. “The distraction put the arrest of Peter on standby for one and a half years. Hubmble was later caught in the year 2006 for his fraud and was sentenced to 8 years in custody”.
