About courier scam
Courier scam websites are fake or suspicious websites created to look like real courier companies, parcel tracking portals, logistics services, delivery support pages, customs clearance pages, or shipping payment websites. The main purpose of a courier scam website is to trick users into believing that a parcel, package, document, or shipment is waiting, delayed, blocked, returned, or held for verification. These websites often display fake tracking numbers, delivery status updates, company logos, payment buttons, customer support numbers, and official-looking forms to make visitors trust the page. Scammers use these websites to collect money, personal details, address information, card details, banking information, OTPs, or identity documents.
A common courier scam website asks users to pay a small delivery fee, address correction fee, customs duty, rescheduling charge, handling fee, or parcel release payment. Because the amount may look small, users may pay without checking carefully. During payment, the fake website may ask for debit card details, credit card details, CVV number, expiry date, OTP, or online banking information. Once this information is submitted, scammers may misuse it for unauthorized transactions or financial fraud. Some courier scam websites may also collect personal details such as full name, phone number, email address, home address, and ID proof.
Courier scam websites are often shared through SMS messages, WhatsApp messages, emails, phone calls, fake delivery notifications, social media links, or online shopping frauds. A user may receive a message saying that a parcel could not be delivered because the address is incomplete, the phone number is wrong, or the delivery attempt failed. The message may include a link to a fake tracking page where the user is asked to update delivery information or make a payment. Scammers may claim that a parcel linked to the user contains illegal items, banned goods, fake documents, or drugs. The victim may be directed to a fake courier or customs page and asked to verify identity, upload documents, or pay settlement charges. These scams use fear to make users act quickly.
Users can identify courier scam websites by checking warning signs such as strange domain names, spelling mistakes, unknown tracking links, urgent payment requests, fake customer support numbers, requests for OTP, and payment pages that do not belong to the official courier company. A real courier company will not ask for banking passwords, card PINs, or confidential OTPs through unknown links.
To stay safe from courier scam websites, users should visit the official courier website directly and enter the tracking number manually. They should avoid clicking delivery links from unknown messages and should verify parcel issues through official customer support. Careful checking can help prevent money loss, identity theft, and personal data misuse caused by courier scam websites.
