913-608-8171 - PCH Scam - The Publishers Clearing House (PCH) scam is a fraudulent scheme where scammers impersonate representatives of Publishers Clearing House, a legitimate direct marketing company known for its prize-based sweepstakes. Victims receive phone calls, emails, or letters claiming that they have won a large prize or lottery from PCH, but in order to claim their winnings, they must first pay a fee, taxes, or provide personal information. The scammers use the lure of a big prize to convince individuals to send money or disclose sensitive information. Once the scammers receive payment or information, the promised prize never materializes. To protect themselves from the PCH scam, individuals should be aware that legitimate sweepstakes like PCH do not require winners to pay fees or taxes upfront to claim their prizes, and they should never provide personal information or send money to claim a prize from an unsolicited communication.
