The fake profile lists merchant Blockchain Finance Authority, reference ID REF-8694-GT0, frequency weekly recurring, and amount per cycle of $802.15 USD. The notice tells the recipient to contact security at +1 (805) 670-4127 to cancel or dispute the profile and includes a verification code, making the message appear more official. This type of scam is designed to make victims believe a PayPal recurring payment or crypto-related billing agreement has been added to their account without permission. Scammers use fake PayPal branding, large dollar amounts, recurring payment language, reference IDs, and urgent cancellation instructions to pressure victims into calling quickly. Once the victim calls 805-670-4127, the scammer may pretend to be PayPal support, blockchain billing support, account security, or a refund department agent. They may ask for PayPal login details, banking information, credit card numbers, passwords, verification codes, crypto wallet details, or remote access to the victim?s device.
