803-919-3514 - PayPal P-Text Scam - Fake Payment Notifications, Phishing SMS and Email Messages, Impersonation of PayPal Security Team, Fraudulent Transaction Alerts, Payment Confirmation Redirection, Account Verification Requests, PayPal Login Credential Theft Risk, Social Engineering Messages Creating Urgency, Suspicious Links Leading to Fake PayPal Login Pages, Unauthorized Transfers and Account Takeover Risk. The PayPal P-Text Scam is a phishing attack where scammers send fake messages pretending to be from PayPal. These messages often claim that a payment has been sent, received, or that there is suspicious activity on the account. The goal is to make users panic and act quickly without verifying the information. The message usually contains a link that looks like an official PayPal page but actually leads to a fake website designed to steal login details. When users enter their PayPal email and password, scammers capture the information and gain access to the account. Once inside, they can make unauthorized transactions, change account settings, or even lock the original user out of the account. Some versions of the scam also ask users to confirm identity, verify payments, or update security details through the fake link. Common warning signs include urgent language, unexpected payment alerts, unknown sender addresses, and links that do not belong to the official paypal.com domain. PayPal never asks users to provide sensitive information through SMS links or random emails. To stay safe, users should avoid clicking suspicious links, always log in directly through the official PayPal app or website, and enable two-factor authentication for added security. Regularly checking account activity can also help detect unauthorized transactions early.
