A phone number reported as (803) 293-6380 has been connected with a suspected PayPal text scam, unauthorized transaction scam, refund scam, account takeover scam, and phishing attempt. The report includes a fake PayPal alert titled ?PayPal Account ? External Party Transaction Detected,? claiming that a third party used the recipient?s PayPal account without authorization and that there were only 35 minutes to reverse the transaction. The message claims an unauthorized individual from Seoul, South Korea used a malware-infected Windows PC to buy a Sony ZV-E10 Camera + Lens Kit for $598.00 through PayPal Pay at checkout. It also says the victim?s fingerprint was simulated and that the purchase appears in the order history. The message gives reference number THIRD-PARTY-8847-CAMERA and repeatedly tells the recipient to call PayPal External Party Security at +1 (803) 293-6380. This type of scam is designed to scare victims into believing their PayPal account has been hacked and that a fraudulent purchase must be cancelled immediately. Scammers use foreign access claims, countdown-style urgency, fake device details, product names, and official-looking PayPal wording to pressure victims into calling quickly. Once the victim calls 803-293-6380, the scammer may pretend to be PayPal security, fraud support, or a refund specialist. They may ask for PayPal login details, passwords, banking information, credit card numbers, one-time verification codes, or remote access to the victim?s device. Anyone receiving a message connected with this number should not call back, should not reply, and should verify PayPal activity only through the official PayPal website or app.
