Reports :
Met this person on dating site okcupid. He tagged me. We shared information, I gave him my real phone number, name, and email. He stated he lived in Arizona. 6 weeks later he stated he had to go to Australia for work. Sidney first then Melbourne. While in Melbourne on 5/5/16 he asked me for $15,000 which I sent him. He provided information for a Chase Bank in New York. I have a Chase bank account so I transferred the money.
A month or so later he asked me for $8,000. I now realize he is a scammer. I play along and pretend I have some money coming to me in 30 days. (June 17th) Meanwhile he has now moved on to South Africa for work. He contacted me a week ago to invest in gold and sent me the same banking information. He has also been calling me from a South Africa number. I was still in touch with him 2 days ago.
RipandScam has been fighting scam for over 15 years, saving millions of dollars for potential victims from scammers. However, the economic model of the anti-scam industry has been severely disrupted by large corporations, leaving us struggling to survive and even maintain our website. While dedicated anti-scam websites like RipandScam are fighting to stay operational, scammers continue to defraud people of millions.
