406-642-7676 - The Microsoft Popup scam is a deceptive tactic employed by cybercriminals to dupe unsuspecting users into believing that their computer has been infected with malware or is experiencing technical issues. Typically, users encounter a pop-up window, often designed to mimic official Microsoft alerts, claiming that their system is compromised and urging immediate action, such as calling a provided phone number or downloading a suggested software solution. These pop-ups exploit fear and urgency to coerce victims into disclosing sensitive information or granting remote access to their computers. In reality, these pop-ups are scams designed to trick users into paying for unnecessary services or installing malicious software. Microsoft has repeatedly warned users to be cautious of such scams and advises seeking support only through official channels.
