Scammers often use urgent benefit suspension language, fake official notices, attached PDF files, and toll-free phone numbers to make the message appear legitimate. Once the victim calls 888-814-2539, the scammer may pretend to be an SSA representative, benefits officer, government agent, or account verification specialist. They may ask for Social Security numbers, date of birth, mailing address, banking information, Medicare details, identity documents, passwords, or one-time verification codes.
