The report states that the scammers pretend to represent Vizio, FOX, Paramount, Prime Video, Disney, PBS, Amazon, and other streaming services. The scammer?s website is listed as tv-mountingser.com/activate, and the report says they are running Google ads that ask people to enter a 6-digit activation code. After the code is entered, the next window allegedly instructs users to call the displayed phone number. The screenshot also shows ad-style wording such as ?go fox com,? ?Activate streaming apps in minutes,? and ?Activate Apps Fast,? which appears designed to target people trying to activate smart TV or streaming apps. In this type of scam, fraudsters create fake activation pages and paid ads for popular streaming brands. Once the victim calls 877-317-9117 or 888-624-0618, the scammer may pretend to be streaming support, TV activation support, VIZIO support, Amazon support, Paramount support, or a billing agent. They may claim that the device needs verification, the account has an issue, or a fee is required to activate service. The scammer may ask for credit card details, account passwords, email login information, activation codes, one-time verification codes, or remote access to the device.
