The message also claimed that the transaction would be processed within two hours. The report notes that the screenshot could not be uploaded and that one verified callback number connected to the scam was 202-528-0472. This type of scam is designed to make victims believe that an Apple payment, Apple Store purchase, Apple Pay transaction, or iStore charge is about to process without authorization. Scammers often use lookalike spellings such as ?AppIe? with a capital I, fake merchant names, high dollar amounts, urgent time limits, and toll-free callback numbers to pressure victims into calling quickly.
