I speak as one of the countless VICTIMS<\/strong> whose lives were shattered by Chinese-led online scam syndicates operating from Myanmar and Southeast Asia. These were not petty thieves. These were organized criminals who destroyed families, drained life savings, and drove people to suicide, illness, and death \u2014 all while hiding behind computer screens and fake romance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China has now executed 11 convicted SCAMMERS<\/strong> linked to these online scam centres in Myanmar. According to Chinese state media, they were put to death after being sentenced by a court in Wenzhou<\/strong> in September. The executions were approved by China\u2019s Supreme People\u2019s Court<\/strong>, which confirmed that the evidence of crimes committed since 2015 was \u201cconclusive and sufficient.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their crimes were not \u201cjust fraud.\u201d They included intentional homicide, unlawful detention, severe physical injury, large-scale financial fraud, and running illegal casinos<\/strong>. These SCAMMERS<\/strong> didn\u2019t just steal money \u2014 they stole lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Romance Was the Bait. Death Was the Outcome.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I was one of the many VICTIMS<\/strong> targeted through fake romantic relationships and cryptocurrency investment scams \u2014 what the world now calls \u201cpig-butchering.\u201d These scam centres flourished in Myanmar\u2019s lawless borderlands, expanding from targeting Chinese speakers to preying on victims across the world, in multiple languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the people running these scams were willing criminals. Others were trafficked and forced to work. But the leaders \u2014 the masterminds \u2014 knew exactly what they were doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cMing Family Criminal Group\u201d Killed Without Weapons<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Among those executed were members of the \u201cMing family criminal group\u201d<\/strong>, a syndicate whose operations directly contributed to the deaths of 14 Chinese citizens<\/strong> and severe injuries to many others. They never pulled a trigger \u2014 but their actions killed people all the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fraud operations in Myanmar alone extracted billions of dollars<\/strong> from victims worldwide. Every dollar stolen represented sleepless nights, broken families, ruined retirements, and in many cases, suicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Didn\u2019t Look Away. China Acted.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In October, more than 2,000 people<\/strong> were arrested at KK Park<\/strong>, one of the most notorious scam hubs near the Thai border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts confirm that many of these centres are run by Chinese-led crime syndicates<\/strong>, working hand-in-hand with Myanmar militias that profit from chaos and war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Scale of Human Destruction Is Massive<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the United Nations<\/strong>, up to 120,000 people<\/strong> may be trapped working in scam centres in Myanmar alone.
Another 100,000<\/strong> are believed to be trapped in Cambodia<\/strong>.
Thousands more are scattered across Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are industrial-scale fraud factories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After COVID-19 shut down legitimate businesses, many Chinese-owned casinos and hotels in Cambodia pivoted to scam operations. Entire buildings were converted into fraud centres, where tens of thousands of workers ran online romance scams targeting victims across Europe, the US, and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This industry steals tens of billions of dollars every year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The World Is Still Too Soft on SCAMMERS<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The UN Office on Drugs and Crime<\/strong> has warned that cyber-scam networks are spreading globally \u2014 into Africa, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific Islands<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October, the United States and United Kingdom<\/strong> finally imposed sanctions on the Cambodia-based Prince Group network<\/strong>, which ran scam centres across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But sanctions don\u2019t bring victims back to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Deal With Scams \u2014 The China Way<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

China has shown the world one thing clearly:
If you destroy lives on an industrial scale, you will be destroyed by the law.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
