A finance employee at a multinational corporation fell victim to a sophisticated scam where fraudsters utilized deepfake technology to impersonate the company’s CFO in a video conference. Hong Kong police revealed that the worker was deceived into attending a video call with what he believed to be fellow colleagues, all of whom were actually deepfake replicas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the multi-person video conference, it turns out that everyone (he saw) was fake,” remarked Senior Superintendent Baron Chan Shun-ching during a briefing with public broadcaster RTHK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
