<\/a>Durango resident John Perry had just stepped off the airplane in Los Angeles to take part in a bicycle race when he received the voicemail.The caller claimed to be Lt. Scott from the La Plata County Sheriff\u2019s Office, calling for Albert Perry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018Uh, OK, well that\u2019s not me,\u2019 so I called because I wanted to do the right thing,\u201d Perry said. \u201cAnd he said, \u2018Oh no, I think my secretary made a mistake, I\u2019m looking for John Perry.\u2019 And I said, \u2018Well, that\u2019s me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perry was about to become the latest victim of a telephone scam making the rounds in La Plata County.
