Antispyware

Antispyware is a computer software that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software.

Antivirus

Antivirus software is a computer program that detects, prevents, and takes action to disarm or remove malicious software programs, such as viruses and worms. Computer viruses are software programs that are deliberately designed to interfere with computer operation, record, corrupt, or delete data, or spread themselves to other computers and throughout the Internet.

Address Harvester

An Address Harvester is a robot that scans or “crawls” websites, Net news, forums etc. for anything that looks like a valid email address. This results in large amounts of email addresses which will be used to send out spam, or sold to spammer.

Attachment

An attachment is a file that is sent along with an email message i.e. if you include a file with an outgoing email message. Be careful about attachments. Attachments can contain malicious programs, such as viruses and Trojan horses. If you receive an attachment from someone you do not know, you risk that it might be a virus or Trojan horse, which will be activated when you click on it!

Advanced Fee Fraud

A very common scam in which a fee is demanded from the victim in advance of the victim receiving a lottery winning, a loan, money from a dead relative, etc. Often these scammers are based in Nigeria, the Netherlands or China.

ASEM

Anonymously Sent E-Mail or Accidentally Sent E-Mail. It involves the act of sending e-mails to scammers but pretending that it was send mistakenly to them. Ideally, the email is supposed to look like you are in the middle of a fruitful transaction.

Adware

A kind of software that regularly appears with free of charge downloads. A number of Adware show ads on your PC, whereas a number of observes your computer use counting the websites visited and displays under attack ads found on your use.

Anti-virus Software

Guard your computer from viruses which will be able to wipe out your data, slow your PC working level, reasons for a crash, or even permit spammers to send email all the way through your account.

Access log

Access logs are files that are produced by a web server each timea page from a site is asked for. The majority of them pursue with the common layout that lists the date and time of the requested.

Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

An AUP is a strategy statement, prepared by an ISP, or some company that has clientele, in which the business sets out its "rules" for use of the account.

Address Munger

A website which munges your email address

Address Munging

Camouflage an email address to stop it from being mechanically collected and use as an objective for spam. It once referred simply to mangling the order of the letters in an email address.

ASCII

Pronounced ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information exchange. It is a tremendously regular system that PC uses to catalog every character that your computer can exhibit.
